Saving Snakes, Saving Lives in Nepal
On the last day of 2022, I would like to share a special message with you from Save The Snakes Conservation Partner Kamal Devkota: Save The Snakes is proud to support Kamal and his team to mitigate human-snake conflict and save snakes in Nepal. Kamal Devkota is a snake expert, conservation biologist and board member at the Nepal Toxinology Association. Additionally, Kamal is a professional actor, who uses different forms of media and drama to change hearts and minds about snakes and broadcast important snake safety information across the country. In 2022, Kamal and his team implemented the Save The King initiative, which aims to protect and research threatened king cobra (Ophiophagus hannah) populations in Nepal. This effort includes engaging communities throughout Nepal to reduce conflict between humans and king cobras. As a result of Kamal’s important wildlife conservation initiatives, thousands of people have received lifesaving information about snake awareness and snakebite first aid and numerous snakes, including imperiled king cobras, have been rescued and relocated from conflict situations. When you donate to Save The Snakes, you directly support our efforts to support snake conservationists, reduce snakebite deaths and save more snakes. From all of us at Save The Snakes, we are incredibly grateful. Thank you so much and Happy New Year!
